What we do at The Dark Horse
At the Dark Horse we’re all about creating a place where our customers feel at home and can come together to enjoy themselves. That all starts with service with a smile and we make sure our team are treated well so that they actually enjoy their time working (it’s possible, trust us) and their the heart of place’s atmosphere. Of course everyone has different ideas of what going out to the pub looks like so we always want to cater to a wide variety of tastes.
If you’re just looking for a casual drink with friends we’re one of the best pubs in Athlone for having a chat and a pint, with two bars, several separate seating areas and a beer garden outside. We have drinks to suit all comers whether it’s craft beers, wine, spirits, cocktails or your standard beers and ciders on tap we’ll have the drink you’re looking for.
Our Kitchen
Our kitchen also works hard to create some of the tastiest food Athlone has to offer so if you’re after a bite to eat we have what you’re looking for. Whether it’s a bit of a snack to go with your drinks or a proper lunch or dinner our extensive has all bases covered with quality and price two areas where we’re always trying to deliver for our customers. Drop in any day of the week and watch out for our special ‘takeover’ menus where we spice things up by giving our chef free reign to see what their made of (skills-wise, we don’t cook them).
Entertainment
In terms of entertainment we’re down for (pretty much) whatever. If you want to watch the match we’ve got big screens showing all the best live sport, including Premier League, Six Nations, GAA and NFL. We have live music from local bands, DJs on special occasions as well as the Midlands’ world famous After Dark burlesque show. The upstairs has also become the heart of pool in the region, with local leagues, moneymatches and people dropping in for a few frames on our pristine tables.
We love throwing parties too and we’re lucky to have the space and the set-up to allow people to book off their own space to celebrate whatever they fancy. Hens, stags, engagements and divorces the Dark Horse is the pub Athlone comes to when it’s looking to have a knees-up.
